Accomodation in Negombo

We want to spend a few days in Negombo Town from 5 June and are thinking of staying at the New Rest House or Gomez, or possibly Villa Araliya though it is further out.

Can anyone recommend any of these? We are hoping for comfortable, friendly and characterful...maybe a colonial building with a garden...any suggestions would be appreciated.

As would ideas for restaurants in the town serving good local food

May be you can select "The Beach" resort, it is new and good. here are lots of restaurants in Negombo for local food but for good food you have to go to Colombo - Halawatha Road.
